Rioghnach H. Gavin is currently in Studio + NCAD pursuing a degree in Fine Art Media with a joint honors in Critical Cultures. Her practice is based mostly in video art, but she also makes collage work influenced by the zines documenting English and American Punk subcultures of the 1980’s/1990’s; illustrators like Robert Crumb and Bob Camp; and the music such as The Slits, Frank Zappa, and Donavon.

The work Rioghnach has submitted was originally created for her Zine exploring character creation, ‘Fridge Magnets’. This poster in particular was made to be a balance in ugliness and volatility. The characters in it are meant to be visibly angry and bewildering: with a focus on the concepts of mutation and distortion.
