A drop of luminescent honey

solidified against a pole,

forever illuminating the streets

in the darkness

of the night.

All around autumnal trees are

saddening their leaves

like they were tears

trapped

since spring

Francesca Giacomel

Francesca Giacomel is an Italian student at UCD studying English with Creative Writing. She has always found poetry a perfect outlet for all her negative feelings, especially sadness and frustration. She started writing poems in Italian – first in the margins of her grammar book when she was in middle school and then in a small book she received from her grandmother at Christmas. Then, one day, she tried to challenge herself to write a poem in English, and from there, her passion for writing in English was born.
