Nellie Warren • She/her • Author of “Bluescreen”
Nellie Warren is a writer, artist and filmmaker from Dublin, studying English with Creative Writing in UCD. She has been writing since she was six and has won awards for her short animated films. Bluescreen was inspired by her fear of AI, her fascination with digitalism, and the terrible fever dreams she gets when she’s sick.
In Bluescreen, the theme of blood relates to the modern desperation to distinguish between the real and not-real in a world that is becoming dominated by AI and insincerity. It also relates to both the violence and the familial bond present in the story.
