Skye A. Mann • She/her • Creator of “Dublin x My View”
I’m a Dublin-based filmmaker and photographer, deeply interested in visual storytelling, particularly how light, shadow, and form communicate emotion. I primarily work in social realism; my art often explores themes of memory, identity, human connection, and representing working-class Dublin authentically. Through my work, I try to capture the rhythm and contradictions of the city — whether that’s in the raw energy of a drag performance, the quiet intensity of a local match, or the unfiltered moments of everyday street life. My work is grounded in people and place, always aiming to reflect the humanity, humour, and grit that make Dublin what it is. For the New Word Order submission, I wanted to create something that speaks to that same spirit: honest, grounded, and a little bit defiant.
On the theme of ‘Blood’:
This piece reflects on the inherited weight of lineage and the unseen ties that bind us: how blood, in both the literal and metaphorical sense, shapes who we are, through our physical location in the world, fashion sense, creativity and art.
